Wolfpack Mentoring

The Wolfpack Mentoring Program completed its pilot phase within DELTA, running from April to December 2023. Following its success, the program officially launched in May 2024 and is now open to participants from both DELTA and NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education (NCSCaLE). We are currently welcoming applications from mentors and mentees across both divisions

Rooted in the shared values of DELTA and NCSCaLE, the program fosters meaningful connections, encourages learning from different perspectives, and promotes personal and professional growth across our organizations.

The program is powered by Chronus, a customizable platform tailored to our organizational needs. Chronus leverages AI-powered matching, built-in metrics, and robust survey tools—delivering both functionality and security. Its comprehensive design reflects our commitment to fairness, community, and support for every participant.

The primary objectives of the program are to:

  • Leverage skills from mentors to provide training and leadership opportunities
  • Facilitate succession planning and knowledge transfer
  • Further promote organizational transparency
  • Increase retention
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of community for all staff, regardless of their position in the organization
  • Spread the word across campus and open the program to other NC State staff!

Information for Mentors:

Mentoring can be deeply rewarding on a personal level. Many mentors find satisfaction in helping others grow, achieve their goals, and overcome challenges. The act of giving back and making a positive impact on someone’s life can be immensely fulfilling.

Becoming a mentor can help you:

  • Develop and refine skills – Mentors will learn to be organized, share information clearly, and guide someone else to grow personally and professionally. Mentors also build their acumen in leadership and management.
  • Give back – Lending a hand can feel gratifying and meaningful. Plus, it’s a big compliment to be someone’s source of wisdom.
  • See what’s next- The knowledge-sharing in this relationship is reciprocal. Not only do mentors get access to the concerns and priorities of younger workers, but they might also get a hands-on look at new technology or ways of operating.

If you’d like to recommend someone else to be a mentor or have any questions, please contact us

What is expected from mentors?

Information for Mentees:

Being a mentee is an opportunity for growth and development that can lead to a more successful and fulfilling future.

Becoming a mentee can help you:

  • Gain support and knowledge – Impactful mentoring provides mentees with advice, wisdom, and encouragement, as well as new skills and institutional knowledge.
  • Become more productive employees – Feedback and guidance from mentors can improve workplace performance.
  • Improve their career and earnings – Participating in mentoring can lead to a salary increase and promotions, according to one study, while another study pointed to an increase in job satisfaction.

Please contact a program administrator if you have any questions, or want to recommend someone for the program.

What is expected from mentees?

  • Individuals looking to grow a skillset or to acquire knowledge that will help them progress in their career.
  • Can commit 30 minutes per week or one hour bi-weekly for at least 6 months.
  • Once you enroll, you will create a profile that will help the platform match you with top-recommended mentors in the organization.

Flash Mentoring

Flash mentoring is a concise method that enables participants the ability to conduct multiple sessions, each with their own learning objectives and desired mentor, to gain information and knowledge on a larger variety of topics.

Benefits of Flash Mentoring include:

  • An increase in engagement to build larger personal networks
  • The ability to attract prospective members with modern mentoring methods
  • The opportunity to learn job-related skills from peers and industry leaders for career progression
