Spotlight: World Refugee Day is June 20

First recognized in 2001 by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, World Refugee Day brings global awareness to the strength and courage of people forced to leave their home country because of persecution, conflict, disease or disaster.

Ongoing and new conflicts have driven a profound increase in forced displacement across the globe, so for 2024 the UNHCR is emphasizing solidarity with refugees and displaced people as a unifying theme and call to action.
