DELTA DEIBA May News
Happy May! This month we recognize ALS Awareness Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, Asian American and South Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Older Americans Month.
Spotlight: Older Americans Month
Established in 1963, Older Americans Month celebrates the contributions of older* Americans to civic, economic and social life while also highlighting the importance of meaningful connections to overall health. *Generally defined as age 65 or better.
The 2024 theme, “Powered by Connection,” focuses on the transformative potential of community engagement to improve mental, physical and emotional well-being. Lack of social connection and loneliness can lead to significant health risks in older adults, rivaling the risks associated with smoking, obesity and physical inactivity.
